VSE Ranked Details & Rules

Below you will find everything you need to know about VSE Ranked, please take the time to have a read to make sure you understand the rules. This page is in addition to our overview page.

Schedule & Registering

There are currently three weekly VSE Ranked races, one on Wednesdays at 6pm UK time, another on Fridays at 1pm UK time and a final one on Sundays at 6pm UK time. The format will be a Short Qualifying, followed by a 50% distance race. The calendar will be decided and published ahead of the season and will be the same across all days.

Registration for the above races will open 2 hours before and close 10 minutes before the scheduled start time. Once registration is closed, the splits will be locked in and cannot be changed.

Rank

Once the splits are finalised, you will be able to see your expected finishing position, which is a simple order of rank in your split. For every position you are above or below this, you will be awarded or deducted 2 ranked points. Additionally, you will gain 5 ranked points for attending and there are extra bonuses for being on the podium too.

This all means that if you are expected to finish in 10th place and you achieve 8th place, you will gain +4 ranked points from your finishing position, plus an extra +5 for attending, so your net gain will be +9 ranked points.

Points

The points system in VSE Ranked involves merging all splits into one big list by finishing position, starting with the top split and adding on any additional splits to the bottom of the list. The base points are then awarded as follows:

Result Points
1st 50
2nd 49
3rd 48
... ...
20th 31
21st 30
... ...
49th 2
50th 1

Additionally, there will be bonus points awarded for the following, no matter which split you are in:

Result Points
1st 5
2nd 3
3rd 2

There will be no points awarded for anyone who does not finish or is disqualified.

Each scheduled race day will have its own championship, but there will not be individual split championships since the attendees for each split are dynamic.

Our Rules

We don't have an extensive ruleset, because we like to run VSE Ranked on respect and not exploitation of the rules. That being said, please note the below:

  • Broadly follow the rules of F1 - that's follow the pit in and out lines, no overtaking under Safety Car and no abusing of game exploits. If it's something that you don't see in real life, don't do it in the game.
  • Whether on the inside or outside, attacking or defending, if you see a red proximity arrow and someone is alongside you, leave them room. For avoidance of doubt, we consider 'alongside' to be front axle to rear axle.
  • No retaliatory action. Two wrongs don't make a right - if someone has done something they shouldn't have, stay calm and report it after the race.
  • No in-game penalties will be removed, with the exception of ones that are clearly the result of a major game issue. These must be reported to us in the stewards channel. Please note, due to lack of resources, we are not able to remove multiple warnings for a single off-track.
  • No purposeful Safety Cars. If you want to retire, pull into the pits first then retire from the pause menu.

Stewarding

Although we will have stewards, we are taking a relaxed case-by-case attitude to stewarding in VSE Ranked. If someone does something malicious or clearly over the limit and it gets reported, they will get a penalty. But if it looks like a racing incident, we likely won't step in. We also reserve the right to remove anyone from VSE Ranked without prior warning for any clear malicious acts that have no place in league racing, like taking people out on purpose or revengeful actions.

Drivers have 24 hours after the scheduled start time to report an incident.
